HP Elitebook 820 G3 Is the product I have. I just found mine has the dual hard drive configuration and was wondering what the SATA specs are - 3.0 or 6.0. I’ve (sadly) already figured out the 15mm 2.5 inch drive is too tall to install the SSD over the top of it, so want to make sure I get everything else right when purchasing the HDD. Any info is much appreciated!

TIA.

(P.S. Windows 10 OS - drop list above isn’t working….)

Hi @Nota12b

I don't quite understand your question, these models can only use one disk, one can be a 2.5’ SATA disk and needs the kit and the other is to remove that disk and put an M.2 SATA or NVME disk.

this mentions specifically that some (mine being one of them) will accept and recognize both the HDD and SSD drives. I know this b/c I’ve installed the 15mm 2.5 inch HDD but was unable to then reattach the SSD over the top of it. Thus I need the 9.5mm size, but available options are 3.0 AND 6.0 bus speed. I’m assuming the 3.0 would work either way, but it it might accept the faster speed I might be tempted…

thanks.

please see the service manual and you will see that it is not possible to put two disks. You can't do what you want,  is one disk or the other the service manual makes no reference to dual disks.

Original question - do you know if the HDD connection is 3.0 or 6.0? The connection is in my laptop. A 15mm - thick 2.5 inch drive is too thick for the device bay.

I don't understand what you mean by SATA 3.0  or 6.0, there is a SATA-3 that goes at a speed of 6 GB/s in theory.   if you read the service manual there it indicates that you can put 7mm discs.
