Huffer,

 

No, I already marked it as "solved" way back in the beginning when you provided the name of the optical drive.  Since the manual you did provide was for the Envy, and since the manual for the Pavilion was not forthcoming, I went onto the support site and downloaded it for myself in addition to several drivers and diagnostic tools.  Maybe I am more of a "power user" who needs to get out more often in the cold WA winter rain.
