HP Pavilion dv6-6b07tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

What is the fasted RAM I can put into my HP Pavilion dv6-6b07tx Entertainment Notebook PC?

The fastest compatable RAM upgrade is DDR3 PC3-14900 1866Mhz, according to Crucial upgrade scanner.

Crucial Scanner Results HP Pavilion dv6-6b/c (Intel DDR3) system.

Crucial 16GB Kit (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 SODIMM

BUT will my laptop actually be able to run that RAM any faster than 1333Mhz it originally came out with?
or maybe up to 1600Mhz? If the CPU has 1600Mhz FSB

One lot of specs says:
Intel Core i7-2760QM 2.40-GHz (SC turbo up to 3.50-GHz) processor (1600-MHz FSB, 6.0-MB L3cache, dual core, 45 W)
but another says bus speed 5GT/s DMI
I am not sure what that actually means…
Can anyone tell me the fastest RAM it can make full use of please?

Thanks

Hi,

Page 4, 27: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

Specs: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03055555

1333MHz is what is listed, so board might be restricting it to that. 1600MHz would down clock to 1333MHz. But I've seen may users here telling otherwise in different models with similar description

You can run SPECCY tool to know at how much is RAM currently running at.

Hi Visruth,

Thanks for your help!
The specs page http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03055555 says "Upgradeable to 8 GB DDR3",
but the PDF for HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC on page 4 says models equiped with an intel processer,
"Supports up to 16384 GB of system RAM"  (AMD processer is 8GB RAM max)
I have the Intel i7-2760QM shouldn't I be able to use 16GB RAM??

I'll go with Manual. And you have i7 core processor.

16gb max.
