What is the function of this module? I checked the ebook manual and it doesn't explain that module. Is it a module for a SIM card?

It looks to be a SIM card slot as WWAN was an option according to chapter 1, pages 4 & 5 of the service manual:

SIM Module (3FF/mini SIM) (user accessible behind battery)

HP ZBook 15 G5 Mobile Workstation Maintenance and Service Guide

But most likely your notebook does not have the WWAN adapter hardware installed.

You'd have to check to see if the antenna wires are installed before ordering one of the WWAN cards listed in chapter 3 of the service manual if you wanted to add a mobile broadband (WWAN) adapter.
