Hello all, just curious what type of m.2 slot compatability I have on my HP notebook, I recently upgraded the main board with an i7 processor and just swapped my crucial mx500 m.2 sata card over from my i5 main board, but I'm wondering if the slot can also accept nvme m.2 cards as well since they are so much faster, The original model of the laptop was HP 15-BS1xx but considering I swapped the main board I'm not sure if that would cause conflicting compatability issues with the proper m.2 slot evaluation. Any input is always appreciated, thank you all for your time and efforts and stay safe ya'll!

You're very welcome.
Unfortunately, I would not be able to confirm that the M.2 slot has any chance of supporting a NVMe SSD.
All the cards are stacked against it.
From chapter 1, page 3 of the service manual.
M.2 SATA-3 configurations (value) (not for Intel Pentium Silver N5000/Celeron N4000 processors):
● 256 GB
● 128 GB
M.2 SATA-3 configurations (TLC) (not for Intel Pentium Silver N5000/Celeron N4000 processors):
● 512 GB
● 256 GB
● 128 GB
Chapter 3, page 27 of the service manual lists all of the part numbers for the supported SSD's...if you google them, they are all SATA.

If you want to experiment with a M.2 NVMe SSD that is entirely up to you, but unless someone on this forum has successfully installed a NVMe SSD in one of the 15-bsxxx notebooks, we can only provide the information we have access to.
And all of that information indicates it cannot be done.

Hi:
If the motherboard was for a 15-bs0xx then the M.2 slot only supports SATA SSD's not NVMe, as set forth in chapter 1 of the service manual.

Dear Paul, I appreciate you prompt response . Though I was unable to confirm tour statement regarding your belief that nvme is unsupported. I've read and analyzed that service manual guide more then 100 times and though it does list only the terms m.2, sata, data 3, SSD and no where does it mention nvme or nand, it also doesn't describe the m.2 slot specifically where it would make one feel confident in the fact nvme is 100% not supported.. Please evaluate this information I'm relaying and if then you can provide definitive evidence to the slot compatibility, your efforts are respectfully appreciated.
