Product name and number in question, above. Windows 10 Home, 64-bit. Has one 4Gb stick of 2133Mhz RAM now, and specs show only one slot. [EDIT: Looked again, and specs show only one stick installed in Slot 1. Doesn't mention if there is more than one slot. I can take it apart for all the other questions, but I don't know how to find out IF it will "see" more than 4Gb. System board is listed as 81EB61.42.] Also, no access door on the bottom of unit, so I presume I'd have to take the bottom case off. It's out of warranty, and I know what I'm doing, so not worried about that, just don't want to buy memory I won't be able to use. Anyone know for sure how much this machine will handle? How about the module pin count and form factor?
All help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
Your PC supports max 16GB of DDR4 2133MHz RAM (2x8GB)
There are two slots and at the moment you have one 4GB module and one empty slot. So you could insert another 4GB module in the empty slot for performance gain. You can use 2400MHz RAM (easier to find) which will run at 2133MHz. Do not worry about pins and form factor as all notebook DDR4 RAM will have the same form factor and pins. You can purchase from your preferred brand.
Example of RAM
https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/hp-15-ay052nr#MEMORYFilters
On page 56 of the service manual, you can see the steps to install the RAM
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05087748
You could also consider replacing the 2.5"HDD with a 2.5" SATA3 SSD which would give a noticeable boost to the everyday performance of the PC.
Hope it helps,
David

Wow, Iomare, YOU ROCK!
Thanks so much for the links, and of course for the info. I did try to find that manual, but HP said "Nuh-uh! No search results." Anyway. I really appreciate your suggestions, and I do actually have an SSD that I can repurpose for this machine. The performance, of course, is what I am after. Trying to run some 3D simulations for work, and as it is, it is just PAINFULLY slow!
I have given you a thumbs-up and accepted your answer, even though it looks like your forum rep doesn't really need my help.
Have a great one, and thanks again!

You're welcome and thanks. Yes, the SSD will speed up everyday performance. RAM is important in the work you are doing, so you could even go with a 16GB kit (2x8GB) which would then also run in dual channel mode and provide even a little extra speed.
Anyway, join us again and all the best,
David
