Hi community!

I want to upgrade my computer's RAM but I want to learn how much does it eligible to upgrade? here is my computer

OK. I will try to explain it to you.

The way it works is that there is more than a chipset which controls what can be done with a PC or notebook.

Companies like HP, ASUS, Dell and others, use a reference chipset design provided by AMD or Intel, and decide what the limits will be.

Not all parts or feature of the chipset are used. The featureset of a systemboard or desktop depends on which segment of the PC or notebook market a systemboard or motherbolard is being designed for.

An entry level notebook or desktop PC will most definitely not have all the features of a top tier product.

The hardware limits are coded into the BIOS firmware by engineers and specific features are either used or left out.

If you have done your due diligence research and found somewhere that people have been able to upgraded an identical notebook to 16 GB and that it worked. then you can upgrade to 16GB. Otherwise, I recommend that you believe what has been stated here as I have used HP publications that were specifically written for your notebook's model series as my reference source. The choice is always yours.

There are two soDIMM slots in the notebook, and the maximum amount of memory suported is 8GB.

Install two identical guaranteed compatible memory module of 4GB capacity.

The thing ehich I don't understand is, my computer has Intel 4200U processor inside and according to Intel's website it can support up to 16 GB of RAM. Should I upgrade?
