planning to upgrade storage... what is the max available option for me for sata drive either ssd or hdd

2 TB is the maximum practical upgrade just in terms of what is available in the market. There is no limit imposed by the hardware. I have actually seen 4 TB SATA 2.5 inch SSDs but the cost is equal to the price of many new laptops. 2 TBs are pretty common and relatively inexpensive.
