Sorry, I'm asking so many relatively same questions in this forum. I just ordered 2X8 GB memory sticks from Crucial...since I can't find the exact specifications of my laptop, and I should have asked this question before I bought them. I have read that you shouldn't "mix" memory cards and I'm assuming that my laptop has 1x4GB, 1x8 GB for 12GB of memory. So when I go into it I'm going to see that 8GB memory card. My question is could I have used that same memory card with the crucial memory card? Now that I have an extra memory card can I use it on another laptop?

Yes, sorry about that . I thought it was enough info in the box where you are suppose to put the entire description of the laptop, but it only gives you so much room.Because it's an HP Envy 15t-j100 quad addition CTO Notebook.

Yes, that is correct. The memory modules are from "Crucial" 2x8 GB from "Crucial". Now I haven't taken the bay door off of the bottom of the laptop yet so I don't know what the name or kind of memory modules are in the laptop itself. I was told, that let say, they are "Kingston"memory modules in the laptop itself that I shouldn't have one Kingston memory module and one Crucial memory module in the laptop together. Is that correct? Or does it even matter? Because if it doesn't matter then I bought one too many (1x8gb memory module) from Crucial.
