Pavilion x360 14-dh0019ur
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Dear Experts, I am confused, hope you could clear things out for me.

Objective: find out the appropriate RAM frequency for upgrading notebook 14-dh0019ur.

Situation.

HP advised over the phone to use 2400. You guys from forum send me link on service manual where it said use 2400. Yesterday I was talking with HP authorized service and I have been told to use 2666 that it should work on that frequency no problem.

So I have decided to try and see what frequency it is on right now. Downloaded CPU-Z and there it was:

DDR4-2666 (1333) (M471A5244CB0-CTD) 4Gb Samsung. But for some reason CPU-Z Memory is all blank… so I don’t see DRAM Frequency….

CPU is i3-8145u. Intel shows that is supports DDR4-2400.

Also, when cmd and “wmic memorychip get Speed” I get 2400.

Result: I am completely and utterly confused. What memory is on board right now (2666 or 2400)? If 2666 then why cmd speed check shows 2400 but not max frequency 2666? Not sure why CPU-Z wouldn’t show me Memory info but that SPD data that shows DDR4-2666 (1333 MHz) – 1333 is real working frequency or is not? If yes then why it is soooo low when CPU allows it to be up to 2400? If no then how do I read that 1333 info? What does it mean?

And in the end, will this notebook actually run with 2666 frequency or CPU will slow it down and no point in spending money on 2666 memory? Then again why that certified HP technician advised 2666…

Please explain that all to me.

Many thanks!CPUZ Memory Blank.jpgCPUZ SPD.jpg

Which indicates support for 2400
It is possible that the installed module of higher frequency, can be used but at lower frequency therefore DDR4-2666 but works in 2400!
you can try with the crucial Scan:
And if not, open and check what is installed directly!
