I have a HP 700 Rechargeable Multi Pen, but I can't seem to get it connected to my PC via bluetooth. I was wondering if this pen is even compatible with my laptop, and if there are any other pens that are compatible as well. Thank you in advance.

Hi @ManuTombal,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Yes! The HP OmniBook X Flip series supports pens that use Microsoft Pen Protocol (MPP) 2.0, and the HP 700 Rechargeable Multi Pen (part number 93Z27AA) is fully compatible. This pen offers:

  • 4096 pressure levels
  • Tilt support
  • Customizable buttons
  • USB-C charging
It’s designed for HP’s modern 2-in-1 laptops, including OmniBook X Flip models.

Why Bluetooth pairing doesn’t work

The HP 700 Multi Pen does not connect via Bluetooth for writing. It uses active digitizer technology (MPP) to communicate with the touchscreen. Bluetooth is only used for shortcut features on some pens (like launching apps), but writing and drawing work without Bluetooth pairing.
So, you can start using the pen by simply touching it to the screen, no Bluetooth setup required.

Other Compatible Pens

If you want alternatives, these HP pens also work with your OmniBook X Flip:

  • HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen (USB-C charging, magnetic attachment)
  • HP Tilt Pen
  • HP Active Pen G3 (battery-powered, simpler option). [h30434.www3.hp.com]

All these pens support Windows Ink, pressure sensitivity, and palm rejection for note-taking and drawing.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hello @VikramTheGreat

Thank you for your response, you cleared up a lot of confusion. I also have the HP Active Pen G3, and while I succeeded in connecting this one via bluetooth, the laptop doesn't seem to respond to it when I try writing with it. I'd like to know if there's anything I missed, or if there's something I can do to fix this.

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,

Manu
