I'm thinking about getting the HP Elite X2 1012 G2 but I'm a little confused about how it charges.
It has two USB ports:
- An oval-shaped USB Type-C port which is where the Thunderbolt interface connects
- A rectangular-shaped USB Type-A port
Does the X2 G2 only charge through the Type-C port?
I want to use an external GPU with this laptop, which has to go through the Thunderbolt interface.
Since charging and Thunderbolt are both done through the only USB-C port on this laptop, does this mean that I can't charge this laptop while using my external GPU? The external GPU enclosure that I want to buy only powers its video card and no other devices.

Its specs says it has
Ports
1 USB Type-C™, supporting USB 3.1 (supports Thunderbolt™ 3)
1 USB Type-A, supporting USB 3.0
1 Headphone /microphone combo
NOTE: For optimal performance, the HP x2 1012 G2 should charge from a USB Power Delivery, v2 compatible adapter or
power source that offers 12V @ 3A.
Slots
1 Micro SIM drawer (optional)
1 Micro SD Media
and it uses
Power Supply
HP 45 W USB Type-C™ AC adapter
HP 65 W USB Type-C™ AC adapter
USB Type-C™ DC integrated cord (1.8m)
AC Power cord (1m)
AC Adapter Weight: 245g +/- 10g
You can't use both at the same time. People are discussing about a splitter
