Pavilion 14
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I got the laptop in 2015 and it’s gotten quite slow. I’ve restored it once and regularly clean up junk with Ccleaner.

I have a 2GB graphics card and 8GB of RAM, and an SSD, but the CPU is an i5-4210u, which I believe is what’s slowing down everything else.

Is it justified to want to replace the CPU (if so, what could I upgrade to?), or is it better to replace something else or just get a new system entirely?

Thanks for any tips

@Giodueck

What is your Pavilion 14  ?  Normally you have to buy a whole new motherboard with CPU/Processor, video graphics and Windows because they are on a SAME piece of hardware called motherboard. Please use the following instructions to find out the model/product of your machine:

Please do NOT post its Serial number (s/n).

I’d have to check again, but I take it it would be best to just replace all of it and buy a fresh machine.

I was just curious to see if someone knew if the board had the cpu soldered on or not, cause I thought I saw some that weren’t.

Guess I’ll have to open it myself and check. Thanks for the help
