Hi:
Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates that your notebook can support 2 x 8 GB of DR4-3200 memory.
Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)
You can do this to see how much memory your notebook can support:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
If you want to install a 16 GB memory chip, this one should be compatible.

You're very welcome.
Since this is a peer-to-peer forum and we don't work for or represent, HP, no one here would be able to explain why HP indicates the max memory is 16 GB when the windows report indicates 32 GB is the max and the Crucial memory report for the model series indicates that 64 GB is the max.

You probably don't need more than 2 x 8 GB of memory anyway.
You would have to contact HP customer service and ask HP to explain why they wrote that specification in the manual.
