Envy x360 15-bp152nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Have this one ordered, 15-bp152nr, it comes with a 128gb PCIe NVMe ssd, just wondering what the largest capacity it could be replaced with, and do they come in physically different lengths? I'm new to ssd's, especially the m.2 standard.

Start on p. 30 to remove the back cover and this is where you will find the M.2 SSD disk:

The one you want is this part number:

847110-015

HP sells this for $108 right now and that is a huge bargain. I bought one to upgrade a 15-cc model and it got to me in 4 days and works like a charm:

HP asks $400 for other similar disks so I would jump on this before they correct their pricing.

They make NVME/PCIe M.2 disks up to at least 2 TB but those will cost as much as a high-end laptop just for the disk. A 512 gig which is plenty big is about $150-175.

Yes there are different lengths but the industry has now settled on the 2280 form factor which is 22mm wide and 80mm long and that is what your laptop takes.

Post back if you want to kick it around any more or get specific instructions. Upgrading the M.2 disk is not a casual thing; the hardware is not yet completely plug and play industry standard so it takes some experience to know what you can and can't install.

Hi,

Please allow me to add: larger capacity M.2 SSD's need more physical chips and they may have to occupy other side. Please check to make sure you don't have problem (physically) when install it.

Regards.

I was thinking that 512 was the biggest I would ever need or afford(it also has a 1tb 7200 HD). Just figured 128 might be a little small after awhile. I think I probably will do it, any help would be gladly appreciated!

Is there any particular brand to look for, or stay away from?

The best thing to get is the one HP offered as an alternative to yours...usually the Samsung PM951, SM961 or PM961.

Where are you located(country) and we can help you find one in your market (probably).

Also can provide instructions but you need to be pretty handy with a screwdriver and be willing to take the laptop apart a fair amount.

I'm in the US. I have no problem with the screwdriver, I was an electronic tech in my previous life...

Huffer, thank you immensely! You are right that is a fantastic price. I just ordered one. So much cheaper than anywhere else that I looked at. Thanks for all the info and the great tip on the HP part. Also appreciate the manual link. Now I'm anxious for the laptop and new drive to come in. Thanks again!
