Thank you! If I may ask, does that mean the 3200 MHz RAM will not work at it's full speed or am I misunderstanding? Thanks in advance!

HP Recommended

You're very welcome.

If you re-read through this discussion, I had indicated that I didn't know.

The 3200 MHz memory is either going to run at 2666 MHz or 3200 MHz, and we don't know because HP installed a 2666 MHz memory chip in your notebook.

If they had installed a 3200 MHz memory chip in your notebook, we would know the answer.

Sorry, I forgot, but mind me asking, if the motherboard is 3200 MHz compatible, would it work at those speeds?

HP Recommended

Yes, both the processor and motherboard would have to support the DDR4-3200 memory speed.

We know from the Intel specs that the processor does.

HP Recommended

Yes, I know that, but would it work at the full speed of 3200 MHz or lower if it's compatible with the motherboard? Sorry if I don't make sense by the way. For example, with XMP, the RAM works at the maximum speed it can, but in Jedec RAM would it work at lower speeds than the maximum?

HP Recommended

Sorry, but unfortunately I cannot help you any more than I already have.

I recommend you start a new post on the subject and see if anyone has an answer for you.

HP Recommended

Thank you! I will, but if I may ask, do you have the answer to the question or no, and that's why your asking me to make a new post?
