I currently run a miniscule 4Gb of memory on my HP14s-dq0034na

does anyone know what is the maximum size SO-Dimm memory module I can install?

I'd like to install 32Gb but suspect the Motherboard wouldn't accept it, and if anyone knows what the actual product ID number of the largest memory module my Laptop will accept I'd be eternally grateful Tech support sends me round and round in circles.

Kind Regards

Your notebook can only support 1 x 8 GB of DDR4-2400 CL17 memory according to chapter 1 of the service manual.

Maintenance and Service Guide HP 14 Laptop PC

The Intel processor specs indicate that it can only support 8 GB of memory.

Intel® Celeron® Processor N4120

1 x 32 GB is out of the question, but it may be possible to install 1 x 16 GB if the following report you run returns a maximum capacity report of 33,xxx,xxx:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

The report will be picking up the circuitry for a second memory slot that isn't there.

If the report returns a value of 16,xxx,xxx then 8 GB will be the max.

Hello guys well here's the awaited update to my conundrum, I tried the16GB module as suggested Paul and despite my best efforts the Laptop won't take the 16Gb Module so I can definitively say the maximum upgrade will be a single SODIMM 8Gb memory upgrade,

Thanks again Paul for all the help advice and crucially the support

Anytime, Lee

That is disappointing news and thanks for letting us know the outcome.

I won't be making any further recommendations to try installing 16 GB of memory in that model series.

Cheers,

Paul
