What size/type of M.2 SSD do i need?

The parts page for my laptop lists the following as my SSD:

SSD 128GB M2 SATA3 TLC  

Is this a 2.5" drive or one of those stick-of-chewing-gum size drives?

I can't find anything about the size of the SSD bay inside the laptop either.  Is it a 2.5" bay?

According to the report, it can take either a SATA or NVMe M.2 SSD.

You would want the NVMe M.2 SSD which provides better performance over SATA.

M.2 = gumstick- type drive.

Paul, after you informed me about NVMe, I did a little googling about M.2 drives and according to the article linked below, while NVMe M.2 drives have much superior performance to the SATA M.2 drives, NVMe drives put a big hit on laptop battery usage thus shortening the time a laptop can run on battery power.  For those who value battery longevity (and price) over speed, the SATA interface seems the better choice.
