I have an OMEN 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop PC 15-en1000 (2L1F2AV) and am considering upgrading the SSD.  Is the SSD slot on this PC gen 3 or gen 4?

Your notebook's M.2 NVMe SSD slot is PCIe Gen 3.

Anytime you want to look up the PCIe connectivity specification on notebooks with processors that are integral parts of the motherboard (has been this way for many years now), you can go to the AMD or Intel website as applicable, and look up the processor specs.

AMD Ryzen™ 7 5800H Mobile Processor| AMD

As you can see from the above specs page the PCIe connectivity speed is Gen 3.0.
