Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello

I have the hp laptop 14-dk0017nv that came with a 8GB of 2400MHz stick of RAM. The laptop has two slots for ram and i  am considering upgrading to 16GB of higher speed (maybe 3000MHz) . My question is what is the max ram speed the laptops motherboard supports? I tried searching online but couldnt find the manual for this model. The motheboard model is HP 85E0.

Thank you

Hi:

Your notebook's processor can only run the memory at a max speed of 2400 MHz.

AMD Ryzen™ 7 3700U Mobile Processor | AMD

DDR4-3200 memory will work fine, but it will automatically bridge to 2400 MHz.

ah I see so there is no point going and paying more for 3200MHz since they will cap at 2400?

There's no point as far as performance, but if you want to install 2 x 16 GB of memory, you may as well buy DDR4-3200 because you may find it costs less than DDR4-2400 memory.

And you can always transfer DDR4-3200 memory to a newer notebook in the future.

There are still some new notebooks on the market that are using DDR4-3200 memory.

OK, thank you very much 😉
