What to look for when buying a new charger for HP 250 G6? Can you use any HP charger?

Hi, I am in need of a new battery charger for an HP 250 G6. What should I look out for when buying a new one, other than that the plug is the same? Also, can I use a charger from another HP laptop in the mean time, as I have one for an HP Pavilion Gaming 15?

Chapter 3, page 26 has the list of supported power adapters.

If you enter your notebook's product number in the search window at the link below, it should provide the part number and description of the charger your notebook came with.

The power cords are sold separately if the charger is available from HP.

You can see if you can purchase parts directly from HP in your country.

What I have done in the past when I wanted a charger is to go on eBay, search by the power adapter part number and buy a used but tested and working genuine HP power adapter.

Those usually come with the power cord that goes from the wall socket to the adapter.

I have never been comfortable with buying aftermarket chargers.

Unfortunately, there would be no way for me to let you know if the other charger you have would work for your 250 G6.

Yeah, those aftermarket charges are a third of the price of the genuine HP one, but I too am not sure how comfortable I am with them.

Looking up used chargers in good condition didn't cross my mind, so thanks for this idea!

The charger for my roommate's laptop has the same plug, but I am not sure if it could maybe fry my laptop as the power brick is bigger. His charger looks like this: https://www.amazon.com/Compatible-15t-df100-Pavilion-15-ec0751ms-L15534-001/dp/B09C5J797S/

The Amazon listing says it's a 135W charger, while mine is 65W. Though this Amazon listing is a third-party charger, and his is a genuine one.

You're very welcome. 

I don't know what to advise you regarding the use of a higher wattage charger.

It should work if the connector is the same. 

I use a 120W charger from a docking station plugged directly into my HP notebook, which came with a 90W charger. 

Works fine.

That way I keep the smaller 90W charger in the notebook's travel bag all the time.
