Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

What type of SSD do i need to upgrade my storage in 15-ek0xxx? m.2 NVMe? m.2 Sata?

What EXACTLY is your Omen Laptop 15-ek0xxx  ? For example

 

      OMEN Laptop - 15-ek0015tx

 

Your machine probably uses very similar System board  therefore it supports  PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD drive.

It actually has 2 M.2 SSD drives now

 
  • 512 GB Intel® SSD  (a)
  • 512 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD

 

The first one (a) which has 16GB or 32GB Optane included (on one physical piece of hardware). I don't think they are in RAID 0 mode (the specs does not mention RAID 0) therefore my suggestion is to upgrade the second drive only. You can upgrade to 2TB or even 4TB using

        Or similar from reputable vendors.
