Hi, I need to be 100% sure what type of drive this laptop takes before purchasing one. Is it an regular 2.5" or an M2?
Any reccomended guides you guys use would be great too. I'm fairly new to opening up laptops 🙂 Cheers

Hi,
The first letter is actually a 1 as in 1TV50EA which is the model 14-bk052sa
It has a 128GB M2 SSD in the notebook. So you can replace the M2 hard drive with a larger capacity M2 SATA3 drive such as the M2 Samsung 860evo or similar.
Example:
On page 37 of service manual you can see how to replace the drive:
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05493089.pdf
You can also take a look at these HP videos for that model (click on solid state drive in list on left)

If you replace the two XX with 00 it works. HP support assistant gives the product with XX instead of 00
https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-14-bk000-laptop-pc/15551385
Naturally one could also show the user how to find the product or model number. Here is link to HP support page showing how to find it:

Hope it helps,
David

Thanks iomare. I have the manual for the bk000 series I just wasn't sure if it was the same model as my laptop. I think I'll use the bios method to find the exact model & report back here if that solves it, thanks.

Your welcome. Basically what we need to know is what disk you have in the PC at the moment which we can find with exact model or product number as 14-bk000 is for the whole series with many models and configurations.
You can also go into task manager (right-click on application bar and click on task manager). Click on more details if necessary in lower left of Window. Now click on performance tab and click on disk in list on left. In this Windows where it says disk on left, on the right it gives the brand of the hard drive in your notebook.
Let me know,
David

I found the relevant info from the sysinfo in the bios.

Product Number: ITV50EA#ABU
I think I found the manual too but I just want to be sure. It seems to be the same as this guys: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/technical-manual/td-p/6496524
