Notebook won't power on and I think the system board needs to be replaced.  It is less than 2 years old so I'm debating whether to attempt to have it repaired vs. buying a new laptop.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

For info on parts and part numbers, you may check the Maintenance and Service Guide for this computer.

Thank you for your "prompt" reply but I created a case and contacted technical support 2 days ago. I was told by Diana that repair would cost $619.89 - that is probably about what I paid for the computer when I purchased it on November 23, 2018.

It doesn't make sense to pay $619 to repair a computer that is less than 2 years old so Diana said she would quote me a price for the system board. However, the board was not in stock so she could not give me the price.

As you can see my service and repair options are nil.

I think the lesson learned here is don't buy HP when I purchase a replacement.

I understand your concern. Hardware issues are dealt by the HP Technical Support team. Either you can repair the product or get a new one.

You may also visit a local repair shop to check the service/repair cost.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
