My son purchased a second hand pavilion laptop with a non-working touchpad. He gave it to me to take a look at, and on removing the palmrest I noticed that someone else had had the laptop apart previously judging by the missing screws and also the missing touchpad ribbon cable. My question is - where can i get spare parts for this laptop?

Assuming it is an HP Pavilion 15-p040tx laptop
The following link shows all part numbers for the machine

I don't think you can ONLY buy the cable alone, you have to buy the whole part 762525-001 from HP Partstore. My suggestion use that part and search on eBay to get much cheaper.
Regards.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, found partsufer after i posted and found the parts page for the system. I've ordered two touchpad cables from €bay. I think the power button cable is dmaged also as the device wouldn't power up after reassembly. The ribbon cables didn't look in great shape when I took it apart and the power cable looked extremely kinked so I'm hoping a new touchpad and power button cable and I'll be good.
