Where can I buy a replacement battery?
I bought my laptop some time in 2014 and it still works great. Especially after switching to Linux and replacing the hard drive with an SSD. The battery, however, doesn't work at all any more.
There are probably some places I could buy a replacement battery that would work, but I've had bad experiences with these knockoffs. I'd like to buy an authentic replacement battery and use this laptop for another 25 years... Okay, I might be exaggerating a little, but I see no reason to throw it away right now.
The HP Store doesn't even show any batteries. It just shows some power adapters which are pretty clearly not even compatible with my laptop.

I understand your concern as I have had to replace HP batteries in my laptops over the years.
One place I have dealt with it notebookparts.com.
There are others as well, but I no longer have their information.
What I would suggest is first getting the specific HP part number for the battery -- and then, when you do the online searches, the reputable sites will have an image of the battery you can view to confirm the part number is the same.
That's what has worked for me.
Good Luck
