As I understand, to resolve the latest "Spectre" bug, a Bios/Firmware update will be needed. I have an older Pavilion dv6-6153cl Entertainment PC. Will HP provide the necessary update? If not where can I find one that will install/work on my model?

Thanks in advance

I have the microsoft updates, which primarily takes care of "Meltdown". Acording to documentation on "Spectre" mitigation, you will need a BIOS/Firmware update.

There is a PowerShell script provided by Microsoft to check mitigation. The last part of this post contain my results:

Note the Suggested action: " * Install BIOS/firmware update provided by your device OEM".

This is needed to mitigate "Spectre"

So I am looking for BIOS/Firmware update.

Thanks
