I need to replace my battery for my laptop. I want to know where I can buy one. I understand that I can get one from Amazon, Newegg, HP part store and so on. I just want to avoid buying an overpriced or sketchy battery.

We can't advise you too much on this!
You must use the hp reference, for a 100% compatible battery the HP site would be the best option.
But it will usually be more expensive, or not available!
For third-party sellers, you have to be careful, because sometimes it seems to be ok with the hp number, only they can indicate several references!
the batteries may not be very expensive, but in fact they are said to be compatible batteries, but not an HP battery
risk: not suitable, low lifespan, etc.
