@unknowinglyweir,

Apparently, your model came with an M.2 disk installed in an M.2 SSD board that is connected to the motherboard via a SATA cable.

The parts list for your model shows a 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD but doesn't list an M.2 board or cable.

 HP PartSurfer

Page 23 of the service manual makes no mention of an M.2 board.

Unfortunately, I don't know where you can find right replacement M.2 SSD board and cable without knowing their HP part numbers.

You may use Microsoft Bing visual search tool or Google visual search to look for a right M.2 SSD board and cable.

if you are still unable to find right parts, perhaps you can install a 2.5" SATA SSD. You need a drive cover and cable (see their parts numbers on page 23 of the manual).

You need to spend extra money for those parts, but at least you don't have to buy a new computer.

M.2 SATA SSDs and 2.5" SATA SSDs use the same SATA storage controller drivers so basically, they run almost at the same speeds.
