I would like to add 2.5" hard drive to my HP 14-dq1059wm laptop. I have found an 8-pin connector on the main board, but, unfortunately, there is no indication of its function. Is the connector in the attached photo the HDD/SATA connector? If it is, can it actually be used?

The model series does not support 2.5" drives.

If you need more storage, you will have to replace the 256 GB NVMe SSD with one having a greater storage capacity.

The connector you see there is for the models that come with 64 GB eMMC flash storage drives and you wouldn't want to install one of those, as they are pretty slow and would only give you 64 GB of storage space.

Thanks, Paul. I was hoping I could add the hardrive, but it seems to a fairly low-end model. I'll just use it that way.

You're very welcome.
