HP Laptop 15-da0xxx.
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Okay...so I'm not a computer whiz but I'm not THAT stupid.  I Purchased an HP Laptop from Best Buy because I needed a LOT more hard drive space than my old Dell with it's tiny 128GB.  Salesman was knowledgeable and talked me into the HP 15-da0xxx with it's 1TB hard drive, the i5, 8GB memory and SSD.  Fast forward 3 months to today when I get the low storage warning and I come to find out I only have 128GB hard drive & i3.  Apparently I wasn't paying attention.  HP support advises me this model only has 128GB.  Was the saleman at Best Buy mistaken, scammin me or am I missing something?

That particular model has 128 gigs of M.2 NVME storage. I do not like to disparage the Blue Shirt people so let's just say the quality of support provided varies quite a bit.

Hi,

What @Huffer says is correct. Anyway, you could upgrade the M2 SSD to a larger M2 PCIe NVMe SSD such as the M2 Samsung 970evo or similar. There is no limit to the capacity.

You could also install a 2.5" hard drive, however, you will need the Hard drive connector board which might not be easy to find. The part number is L20454-001 and you can search online in your country, you will also need the hard drive bracket part number L20455-001 or you could use some double-sided tape.

On page 45 of the service manual, you can see the steps to install drive

However, since you would need those parts, it will most likely be cheaper and the PC will have much higher performance if you replace the SSD with a larger capacity one.

All the best,

David
