hp envy x360 15-bq051sa
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I just purchased the HP envy x360 15-bq051sa, it has 8gb DDR4-1866 (2 x 4gb) in it, I was going to replace one of the chips with an 8GB one, but can't find any for sale anywhere.

The only one I can find is in the US for $250, which is a bit high.

Crucial and Kingston don't do it, they only do DDR3 at this speed, as do all the others.

Anyone have any ideas

Hi,

If we look on page 1 of service manual for your model we see that you can also use DDR4 2400Mhz sticks which will run at the lower speed. These will be much easier to find.

Hope it helps,

Cheers David for that quick reply. From that page I have made bold something that concerns me.  Does that mean no more can be added

You can upgrade the RAM, it is an accepted practice and will not void your warranty unless you break someting during the upgrade. Ugrading RAM or hard drive is accepted.

Cheers, its just that wording looks scary :generic:

I take it one 1866 and one 2400 won't cause any stability issues

Install DDR4-2400. That is what the system is designed to have; it will just run it at 1866mhz.
