That's not what those numbers mean.

Those numbers identify the size of the screw that the white arrow is pointing to M2 = Metric 2 mm x 3.5 = 3.5 mm in length.

Notebooks use 2.5" drives.

Hi Paul,

So can I attach an internal hdd in my HP Laptop 14s-ef1000TU ? If yes than what size it would fit in 2.5 inches or 3.5 inches, I assume that this laptop is not in notebook category. Please suggest.

Hi:

As I had replied to you earlier, notebooks use a 2.5" hard drive, or 2.5" SSD.

However, according to chapter 1 of the service manual, your notebook does not have any support to add a 2.5" drive and there are no parts listed in chapter 3 of the manual to add one (no cable, no mounting brackets).

I suggest that if you need more storage that you replace the 512 GB NVMe SSD with one having a greater storage capacity because there would be no way to tell what that connector in your screen shot is for or what parts you need for it.
