Hello, I can only use one RAM-Slot of my HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2279ng, so I want to upgrade to 16gb.
Which is the ideal RAM? My options are these, but I'm open to any recommendation:
- Crucial 16GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM CL22.
- Corsair VENGEANCE SODIMM 16 GB (1 x 16 GB) DDR4 3200 MHz.
- Kingston FURY Impact 16GB 3200MHz DDR4 CL20.
Thank you.

Hi:
I would go with the CL22 memory because that is the latency HP installed in your notebook.
Since you can't adjust the memory timing in the BIOS and if the PC doesn't automatically adjust to the faster CL20 latency, the notebook may not boot up with the faster CL memory.

Hello, Paul. Thank you very much for your prompt answer.
Is the Crucial CL22 fully compatible with my Laptop? Should I be aware of something else when installing the new RAM?
Thank you very much.

You're very welcome.
The Crucial memory report for your notebook indicates the 16 GB part number they show on the report is compatible.

Memory is plug and play so as long as you follow the instructions to remove and replace the memory, you should be fine.
Below is the link to the service manual:

The Maintenance & Service guide states that there are two customer accessible /upgradeable soDIMM slots. SeeTable 1-1 on page 1

Why would you, per your statement, only be able to use just one module?
You would be better off with two 8GB memory modules or 2 x 26 GB as it states in the manual. That would also enable dual channel mode

Hello, Erico. Thank you for writing.
Sadly only one slot functions properly. The connection from one slot is defected in the mainboard (or something similiar, an expert told me). That's why I can only use one slot, otherwise I'd have to replace the mainboard, which sounds overwhelming for someone without proper IT-Knowledge like me, haha.
Do you think I'll be fine with the 1x16gb or would you recommend a different solution? Greetings.

That is a great reason.
