Hi. I have a hp g42 456tu, completely the same as I received it. 3gb ram and 2 slots ddr3.i want to upgrade the 1gb with 4gb ram. Which model is supported by my laptop and available in India? Please see that it's available in Amazon or Flipkart. Thanks.

Hi:
It is very hard to find the right memory that works in HP notebooks with the Intel 1st gen core processors.
You can see this discussion...it is the same for any HP notebook like yours.

I would go with this 4 GB chip...at least this model seems to meet all of the characteristics of memory that should work.
Below is the link to the service manual. The memory upgrade info can be found in chapter 1.
Your notebook can support up to 2 x 4 GB of memory, so if that memory chip works, and you want to max it out to the full 8 GB, buy another one.

Btw, my processor is - Intel core i3 3rd gen m370. Because you mentioned "1st Gen" in your answer. See this pls.
And I made a new decision. I will max it out with two 4gb Rams. It will work I think
