Hi:
If your HP 255 G5 has a M.2 slot, you can only use a SATA M.2 drive in it, not NVMe.

I suggest you open up the notebook and check first, because according to chapter 6, page 56, there is a removable solid state drive M.2 board that your notebook may not have, since it didn't come with a M.2 solid state drive originally.

If you look at the illustration, the solid state drive goes where the 2.5" hard drive would have been.
So, I would have to conclude that your notebook doesn't have a slot for a M.2 drive.
