hp 15-da0300tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have hp 15-da0300tu laptop. But it has only 4gb ram. I need to upgrade it to 8gb. Which is better option, 1x8gb ram or 2x4gb ram. Which configuration provide better performance.

Default ram brand is micron. Is it a good ram? some of my friends told me, replace micron and put a new 8gb corsair ram

Hi:

2 x 4 GB will run in DDR mode (giving slightly better performance) than 1 x 8 GB, which will only run in SDR mode.

Here is the question you have to ask yourself...

You can upgrade to 16 GB, so if that is something you plan to do in the future, buy the 8 GB memory module and add a second one later on for double the memory and better performance in DDR mode.

If you are 99% sure you will never upgrade to 16 GB, then just buy another 4 GB memory chip and add it to the one you already have.

Yes, Micron is a good chip manufacturer.

I have zipped up and attached a free utility below that will give you all the specs regarding the memory in there now.

Just buy any quality memory module with the same specs.

Also if you plan on upgrading to 16 GB in the future, add the 8 GB memory chip and leave the 4 GB one in there, so at least you have 12 GB running in SDR mode instead of 8.

Here is the link to the service manual for your model notebook.
