Hi there,

i read multiple forums and website but i didn't find a unique answer to my question.

HP 15-g007sl can upgrade to 8 GB of ram?

At the moment 1 slot of ram of 4 GB DDR3L 1600 MHz – 2Rx8 PC3L-12800S is installed but i've already dissassembled my laptop because i'm waiting for an ssd to arrive and so i cannot use program like CPU-Z to answer my question by myself.

The motherboard installed is ZSO51 LA-A996P REV. 1.0 and somewhere i saw that this motherboard works with 4 GB of ram maximum, but i also read somewhere that CPU installed on this motherboard (AMD E1-2100 APU 1 GHz) can only work with 1333MHz ram, when it's not true because the frequency of the ram installed by manufacturer is 1600 MHz.

Is there anyone that can help me?

My aim is to upload the ram installing 1 slot of 8GB DDR3L 1600 Mhz 1,35V 2Rx8 PC3L-12800. Any chances it could work pro

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual.

HP 15 TouchSmart Notebook PCHP 15 Notebook PCCompaq 15 TouchSmart Notebook PCCompaq 15 Notebook PC M...

Chapter 1 has the memory upgrade info.

Your notebook has one memory slot and it supports a max of 1 x 8 GB of DDR3L-1600 memory that runs at 1333 MHz.

Thank you for your answer @Paul_Tikkanen

Well ok for the 8 gb in one memory slot DDR3L (because it runs in 1.35 volt) but i didn't understand the 1600 frequency that runs in 1333 MHz.
Don't you think it's better if i look for directly for one slot of 8 GB DDR3L 1333MHz?

Another thing:

"Supports single-channel memory
DDR3L-1600-MHz Single Channel Support
DDR3L-1333-MHz Single Channel Support (DDR3-1600 downgrade to DDR3-1333)
Supports up to 8 GB of system RAM in the following conƭgurations
● 8192-MB total system memory (8192×1) or (4096×2)"

In your opinion, where in the manual is written "(4096x2)", it refers to "two slot of 4096 each" or it means that ram should be "double rack"? 8 chips of 512 MB each in both sides? So that 512Mb x 16 pcs = 8192 Mb? Or that it could be "single rack" with 8 chips of 1024 Mb each?
I need to be sure because i had another laptop that support 8 GB maximum in two slot (so 4096 x 2) but i discover in a forum that the maximum quantity of data supported for single chip was 256 Mb, so to have 8 GB in two slot i needed to look for 2 slot with double rack and 16 chips for each slot.

Thank you so much again.

it means you can use module with higher frequency, computer will work but at lower frequency as long as it works it doesn't matter, unless you have a big difference in price, why not

in case of adding an additional module, it is better to install the same two

When the manual mentions 1 x 8 gb or 2x 4 gb it is the number of memory module
an 8 gb module
or two 4 gb module

you can try the scan it can help sometimes

You're very welcome, @Ale_Big-Fish

The manual is inconsistent with the information.

If you have the same 15-g007sl, notebooks with the E1 processor such as yours, only have one memory slot and the max memory is 1 x 8 GB.

Here is the crucial memory report for a very similar model to yours which also has the E1 processor.

One bank of one, means there is one slot, one memory chip.

You should try and get the memory recommended in the manual...the manual calls for DDR3L-1600.

It is not going to be any more expensive than the DDR3L-1333 MHz memory.

You can buy the compatible 8 GB crucial memory chip in Italy...

@Paul_Tikkanen thank you again for your help.

I knew Crucial because recently i bought one  SSD M2 NVMe for my desktop computer and works great.
Anyway, in my opinion crucial ram has high price for this old notebook upgrade. I saw on other marketplaces that chinese ram are cheaper, under same technical parameters.

Thanks for your help now it's clear for me that one single slot/module of 8 GB it's ok for my notebook. No matter if the frequency is 1600 MHz or 1333 MHz because in any case the ram will work at 1333 Mhz.

I also saw that crucial ram posted as exemple has installed in it 8 chip pieces (double rack, so 4 pieces for each side) and each is 1024 Mb. The curious thing is that surfing the web i found the same ram with same code CT102464BF160B with 8 pieces chips for each side (so 16 chips in total). Probably crucial at this code produced some modules with 1024 Mb chips and some modules 512 Mb chips. I will look for same "structure", paying less.

I think that with maximum 25 or 30 USD i can find it with mark like Samsung, Crucial or Hynix (the last one is chinese but i saw lots of ram module installed as default on many notebook like Acer or Asus ones, these years).

Thank you so much!
