Hello, 

I need a monitor to connect to my laptop as I will be working from home next week. I can see lots of people are selling on Ebay and FB market place but how do I know which ones are compatible with my laptop? Do they have to be HP monitors? And will I just need an HDMI to connect or do I need any sort of converter? Thanks!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you want to know which monitor to purchase to use it with your laptop.

 

I see that your computer has an Nvidia GTX 1050 graphics card and this graphics card has HDMI, Display port and DVI outputs ports. You can purchase any monitor (Need not to be HP) with the listed ports and should work fine with the computer.
