HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop - 16-a0520na

So im planning on purchasing a new ram stick for my hp pavillion gaming laptop but i am not sure which is the best brand or which type of ram would fit my laptop. if im correct there are multiple types of ram sticks and some ram sticks are large and would not fit inside of a laptop so im wondering what type of ram stick i should buy for my laptop that is ideally 64 gb but if not possible 32gb or 16gb at the least.

I would also appreciate if anyone could suggest specific listings or anything. Ideally from Amazon??

Hi:

According to chapter 1 of the service manual, your notebook has two memory slots and can support up to 2 x 8 GB of DDR4-3200 memory which runs at 2933 MHz.

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

You can run this command to see if it is possible to install more than 16 GB of memory in your notebook.

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

According to the Crucial memory report, your notebook can support 2 x 32 GB of DDR4 memory.

I don't recommend installing 2 x 32 GB of memory unless the Windows report you run indicates that you can.

You can enter the Crucial DDR4 3200 memory part number you are interested in buying on the Amazon website, and it should be available for sale on Amazon.

So i did a tiny but of reasearch earlier and found out that over ramming a devise could lower performance so im toa ssume that the ideal for my laptop would likely be two 16gb ram sticks right?

It may.

Usually, 32 GB is more than enough for most folks.
