Hi:

Your notebook supports 2 x 8 GB of DDR3L-1600 memory.

This should be a compatible 8 GB memory chip for your notebook:

If you only want to install another 4 GB chip, this one should work:

hey paul thank you so much for the help, i appreciate your time. i just have one more question left: as my pc has a 4gb ram now in slot-1, can i install an 8gb in slot-2 or is there any condition like both slots should have same equal capacity ram installed also is it fine if we install two different company/manufacturer rams in the two slots

You're very welcome.

You can run an 8 GB memory chip with a 4 GB memory chip.

The only disadvantage to that is the memory will still only run in single channel mode like it does now with just one 4 GB chip installed.

I would probably rather have an 8 GB + a 4 GB chip than 2 x 4 GB because if I ever decided to max out the memory, I would not have to replace both 4 GB chips.

When the memory is installed in matching capacities the memory runs in dual channel mode, which provides slightly better memory performance.

hi paul thank you for replying to my follow up question with in this short time. i am much aware of the functionality of how the ram's work and clear with the concept now. however i just left with one last final follow up question which i felt like asking you as you seem like a very much knowledgeable person on the hardware components of laptops.

question1: as now i have decided to increase the RAM capacity of my pc, i assume upgrading only RAM does not speed up my laptop but i would like to listen few suggestions from you on which all other components to be considered in mind/need upgrades, while the agenda/soul purpose of this particular upgradation is to keep my laptop to its peak level performance where no more upgrades can be installed in the hardware side.

question2: one more doubt is that currently my pc has i3 5th gen processor how much would it cost to me if i am planning to upgrade it to i5/i7 ----although this particular question may sound silly but just wanted to post it here as you honestly seemed like an expert to me.

* also would like to hear out few good knowledgeable youtube channels resources from you like you posted in previous queries.

a very big thank you for all the help paul, have a great day!!!

best regards,

pradeep

You're very welcome, Pradeep.

Yes, adding more memory will help performance.

Another big boost in performance would be to replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD.

The 250 G4 is the HP business notebook equivalent of yours.

Your notebook's processor is an integral part of the motherboard.

The only way to upgrade the processor would be to replace the motherboard with one listed in chapter 3 of your notebook's service manual that may come with a better processor.

Such an upgrade would be quite expensive and probably not worth the return on investment.

Anytime, Pradeep.

Glad to have been of assistance.

Here are a couple of recommendations.

I am posting the links to the 1 TB models because that is what your notebook came with.

If you don't need 1 TB of storage, then the 500 GB ones would be fine too.

Hi, Pradeep:

Your notebook only has support for one 2.5" SATA drive, so your only option would be to replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD.  There is no M.2 slot in your notebook for a SSD.

Cheers,

Paul
