HP Notebook - 15-db1074nt

Hi everyone, I wanted to upgrade my 8GB ram capacity to 16, so I was searching for different brands but I am not totally sure about which type of ram will suit my laptop without major problems.  My CPU-Z report is here if you want to check. I assumed DDR4 2666 MHz 8GB ram is okay but not quite sure. Heard about 1rx8, 1rx16 and CL stuff. Can you guys help me to understand which type of ram should I buy?

Hi:

Your notebook's AMD Ryzen™ 3 3200U processor runs the memory at a maximum speed of 2400 MHz.

HP installed a DDR4-2666 MHz memory chip in your notebook probably because it is what they had on hand at the assembly plant at the time.

If you want to install a DDR4-2666 MHz memory chip, then it should be 1Rx8 and CL19.

The DDR4-2666 MHz memory automatically will bridge to 2400 MHz, CL17.

So both 2666 MHz CL19 and 2400 MHz CL17 ram's would be suitable and won't make any differences unless they are not 1rx8, right?

HP Recommended

That is correct.

Personally, I like to match up the memory with the speed that was originally installed, but if you want to install a DDR4-2400 1Rx8 CL17 memory chip, that would be fine.

I appreciate it. Thank you.
