HP Notebook - 15g-dr0008tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

hello ! my computer runs too slow as i have 1x4gb ram & 1TB HDD. when RAM is full the OS writes cached data to HDD so my HDD remain 100%active & RAM was already full... so my computer becomes too slow to work on... I'm thinking of upgarding RAM and Storage in my 4year old laptop. but i don't have any idea related to which type of RAM and SSD to purchase. I've a HP-15g-dr0008tu laptop... i3 - 7th gen & 4GB preinstalled ddr4 2133mhz sodimm RAM. do i need to have exact same frequency RAMs to be installed ? And is it true if i use 1x4gb ram with 1x8gb ram ( total of 12 gb ram), then my ram will work in single channel & for it to work in dual channel mode I've to use same sized same frequency 2 ram like 1x4gb &1x4gb or 1x8gb & 1x8gb ?  And I want to install SSD  with 1tb HDD already installed. which SSD will my motherboard support. I know there is a slot for M.2 SSD... but there are like many variants (sata, pcie, nvme) so which one will be supported ? please help asap?

You're very welcome.

The reason I suggested that memory is because it is less expensive than the memory Crucial recommended.

Crucial 8GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM | CT8G4SFS824A | Crucial IN

If you look at the 4 GB DDR4-2666 MHz memory chip that Crucial lists as compatible...

Crucial 4GB DDR4-2666 SODIMM | CT4G4SFS8266 | Crucial IN

...you will see the 8 GB model is has been replaced by the part number I posted for you originally.

Any model NVMe SSD should work.

I was giving you one that has the best performance for the price.

Buy what you can afford.

Your notebook is running the memory in single channel mode now, so yes, if you add an 8 GB chip, it will still run in single channel mode, but you will have 3 x the memory.

In order for memory to run in dual channel mode you have to install memory in matching capacities (2 x 4 GB, 2 x 8 GB).

Hi:

Your notebook has a M.2 slot that supports both SATA and NVMe M.2 SSD's and can support up to 2 x 8 GB of DDR4 memory.

NVMe SSD's have faster read/write speeds than SATA SSD's have.

You can install faster DDR4 memory than 2133 MHz, but it will run at 2133 MHz.

Below is the link to the service manual.

Hello Paul. Thank you so much helping. However, I have some more queries. When I went to crucial's website for the product you mentioned, it say's it is not supported for my laptop.

If i use 1x8gb Ram & 1x4gb Ram, then will it work in single channel mode which ultimately means ram performance might reduce..? I have read this on multiple forums and websites... if it's not like I mentioned it then I would surely buy 8Gb Ram stick And the SSD which you recommended is heavy for my pockets... Moreover, I don't use tons of apps so i guess 256gb SSD is enough for me...  I'm attaching the links of RAM & SSD I'm thinking to purchase... I just want you to have a look at it and please confirm it to me are they compatible and supported for my laptop or not...
