White Keyboard with white backlight, difficult to see

My laptop is white and the letters are transparent on each key so the backlight being white, results in the letters barely showing and being very hard to read in a well-lit room. Is there any way to make the backlight a color or even shut off so I can see the keybpoard letters?

There is usually a keyboard combination to toggle the backlight on and off. If you post your full model number listed on the bottom of the laptop, we can look up the user manual. 15t-DY200 you posted isn't the full model number.
