Could one of HP's engineers, please, explain to me why:

(1) There are only TWO USB ports/jacks?

(2) They were not properly spaced to include diferent sizes or widths?

@mwidunn,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Yea, laptop manufacturers, including HP, sometimes limits USB port count and crowd them together to prioritize thin chassis designs, minimize motherboard size, and reduce production costs. For better or worse, these design choices reflect a shift toward wireless peripherals and the technical challenges of balancing internal component space with external port accessibility.

The image you provided displays closely-spaced USB ports where a wide device blocks access to the adjacent port, a common hardware design issue. Possible solutions include using a small USB hub or a short male-to-female extension cable to utilize both ports simultaneously.

Kind Regards,
