Lately, my HP laptop has been getting extremely hot, even when performing simple tasks like browsing the web, watching videos, or using online tools such as Monetize-Checker.com. The fan runs loudly, and at times, the system slows down or even shuts off unexpectedly. I’ve already tried cleaning the vents to remove dust, but the issue persists. Are there any BIOS settings, driver updates, or software tools that can help regulate the temperature? Also, would using a cooling pad make a noticeable difference? I’d love to hear any troubleshooting tips or solutions that have worked for others facing a similar issue.

@harry411, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

1. Update Your Drivers & BIOS

Go to HP Support and download the latest drivers, especially for the graphics and CPU.

Check for a BIOS update on the same page and install it if available.

2. Adjust Power Settings

Open Control Panel > Power Options.

Set the plan to Balanced or adjust the settings to reduce CPU power usage.

3. Monitor Resource Usage

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.

Look at the Performance tab to see if the CPU or GPU is getting too hot or if any programs are using too much power.

Close any apps that are using a lot of resources.
