Heyo, I'm trying to upgrade my 15-r264dx to use a ar5bhb116 I bought. I was reading on various places that there was a wifi card whitelist for various HP branded laptops, does this also apply to mine?

Hi:

Your notebook does not have a BIOS whitelist, but it may only have one wifi antenna cable connected to the card in there now, so you would have to confirm that your notebook has two wifi antenna cables in order to upgrade to a dual band wifi card with bluetooth.

if it has two antenna cables connected to the Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11bgn Wi-Fi adapter, then you can upgrade to this model wifi card with bluetooth...

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0     HP Part # 710661-001

If your notebook only has one antenna cable connected to the Realtek wifi card, you could still upgrade to the above card, but the Bluetooth won't work due to the lack of antenna reception.

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the wifi card removal and replacement procedure...
