HP Pavilion - 15-cc521nf
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I onwed an HP 15-cc521nf since 2018 and I'm faceing two issues :

1. The wifi cannot connect to 5Ghz frequence and it's a bit annoying (I'm a digital nomad, and can't connect to the wifi at some places I go to).

Can I replace the wifi card ?

If yes, With which wifi card ?

2. It's so slow on Adobe suite Photoshop and premiere pro on the laptop. So I would like to upgrade the RAM for 2x16gb.

Is this one compatible and a good choice for a better performance : crucial DDR4 RAM ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi:

Memory:

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates the maximum memory is 2 x 8 GB, so I don't know if 32 GB of memory will work.

HP Pavilion 15 Laptop PC Maintenance and Service GuideIMPORTANT! This document is intended for HP au...

You can do this to see if your notebook can support 32 GB of memory:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

If you find that the notebook will support 32 GB of memory, then the memory chip you picked out should work, but it is only going to run at 2133 MHz because that is as fast as your notebook's processor can run the memory at.

Wi-Fi card upgrade:

Since your notebook comes with the Realtek RTL8723DE Wi-Fi adapter, there will only be one Wi-Fi antenna wire to connect to the card.

This would be the only dual band model Wi-Fi card you can upgrade to where both the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth will work with one antenna wire:

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) HP part # L17365-005.

The card has a maximum throughput of 433 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi band with an AC router and an excellent signal.

You can find this model on eBay, or Ali Express.

I see some Intel 3165 cards listed on the eBay listings, so don't buy those.

On the Ali Express listings, make sure the card has the HP Part # of 915620-001.

Tanks @Paul_Tikkanen for the reply.

The max capacity seems to be 32GB, I can upgrade it.

Also thank you for the wifi card links, I bought the wrong wifi card the first time.
