Does hp still do bios whitelisting on their laptops? the default card on my machine is only 2.4 GHz and is dreadfully slow. when I took apart my machine to replace the hard drive with an ssd I noticed that there was only one attanae for the card but I don't have an issue with adding another one. If they still do whitelisting could anyone suggest a compatible upgrade preferably with wifi 6 and bt 5.0?

edit : I went with an intel ax200 chip and added an antennae. It worked perfectly

Hi:

There is only one dual band wifi card you can upgrade to with only one antenna cable, and that is this one...

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported)      HP part # L17365-005.

The only place I have been able to find this model is on eBay.

The Realtek 8821CE wifi card will have a maximum throughput of 433 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz wifi band with an AC router.

When it comes to HP a general guide is no whitelists on notebooks made in 2013 or later, some models made in 2012 don`t have them, and all models made from 2011 and earlier do (as far as I know). Additional there are a couple of models made in 2015 that have whitelists, such as the 14-ac and 15-ac model series.

As your Notebook do not fall in the range above its working (see also here).
