OMEN Laptop - 15-en0001nq
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello everyone! Could someone tell me if I can upgrade the wireless network adapter from my Omen 15-en0001nq laptop with a WiFi 6E network card from Intel based on ax210 chipset? Currently it has a Realtek wireless adapter with AC wifi and I'm looking to buy this card: https://www.emag.ro/placa-de-retea-intel-dual-band-wireless-ax210ngw-ngff-wi-fi-6e-6ghz-band-bluetoo... as a replacement. I know that the web page is from Romania but the wireless network adapter details should be enough. As far as I understand HP blacklists some network cards so even if they should fit, it still wouldn't work. Also, would the BT connectivity still work with the antennas from the old network adapter or they should be changed as well?

Thanks!

Hi:

I assume your notebook came with the RTL8822CE Wi-Fi adapter?

If so, that is good because in order to upgrade to a better Wi-Fi adapter, your notebook needs to have two antenna wires and the RTL8822CE also requires 2 antenna wires in order for both the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to work.

I doubt that the AX210 will work, but I have a HP Envy x360 15-ee0047nr (AMD Ryzen 5 4500U processor), and HP installed this model Wi-Fi adapter:

Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro    HP part # L35282-005.

You can find the above model Wi-Fi adapter on eBay.

Search by the HP part number, not the model of the Wi-Fi card.

Below is the link to the service manual...

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

If you look at chapter 1, HP offered the same model Intel AX200 in the model series.

I don't know why there aren't any Wi-Fi card part numbers or removal and replacement procedure, though.

Must have been an oversight.

My notebook's service manual does have the part number listed.

Would this one work: https://www.emag.ro/placa-de-retea-intel-dual-band-wireless-ax200ngw-wlan-wi-fi-6-ax200-2230-2x2-ax-... ? I'm from Romania and I can't find the one from HP anywhere. Is it mandatory to have the HP part number due to the "whitelist/blacklist"?

Hi:

Yes, that card should work just fine.

You can see on the white label on the link you posted, the SPS# 35282-005.

That is also the part number HP uses.

The main thing is that the card you buy has to be non-vPro (Fara vPro).

vPro wifi cards can only be used in PC's with Intel processors and chipsets that support vPro technology.
